JOHN ELIAS HARSHMAN, well known farmer of the Chewsville district, died at his home along the Beaver Creek road early Tuesday morning of complications, after an illness of two weeks, aged 59. He was born and reared in Frederick county, but had resided in Washington county for the past eight years.
He was a member of the Church of the Brethren.
Besides his wife, Vallie, the following, children survive: Mrs. George Leatherman, Harmony, Md.; Mrs. John Shoemaker, White Hall; Mrs. Jonas Harner, at home: Emerson, Waldo L., J. Ralph and Omer H., at home; sisters, Mrs. David Naille, Louise, Amy A., Susan E., Mary E. and Mrs. Jerome Garver, Myersville.
Funeral at the house Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Harry Rowland and Rev. Stottlemyer officiating. Interment at Rose Hill.
