Mr. Sherman Allen, age 90 of Lovelady, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2010 in Lovelady. Mr. Allen was born July 21, 1919 in Chita, Texas and was a resident of Lovelady for the past 26 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. Mr. Allen was retired having worked for Oscar Mayer as a large account salesman and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lovelady serving as deacon for many years.

Survivors include his daughters Sharon Eggleston and husband Lynn, of Fairfield and Carol Carson, of Lovelady; grandchildren Lyle Eggleston, of Los Angeles, Calif., Lori Eggleston, of Austin, T. K. Dunbar and husband Steve, of Highlands and Troy Carson and wife Susan, of Houston; great-grandchildren Ethan Tucker, Davis Carson, Andrew Carson and Steven Dunbar; sister Juanita Johnson and husband Kenith, of Diboll; special friend Pauline Greer, of Riverside; care giver Jann Hensley, of Lovelady; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Preceded in death by his wife June Allen in 2000; parents Elbert and Drucella Allen; brothers Truett Allen and Roy Allen; and sister Evelyn Monzingo. Funeral Services for Mr. Sherman Allen were held Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church in Lovelady with the Rev. Scott Matthews and the Rev. Mitchell Kleckley officiating. Interment followed in the Lovelady Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Scholarship Fund, P. O.
