Pius Joseph Zahm, 97, who for 50 years was a wholesale and retail gardner, operating his farm north of this city and retired at the age of 85, died at 11:50 P.M. Thursday March 14th, 1963 in the Town and Country Nursing Home, Huntington, Indiana 5, where he had been a patient since Sunday March 10th. His home the last several years was on Indiana 5, just south of Indiana 16.

Mr. Zahm was born March 11th, 1866, in Huntington County, to Jacob M. and Mary E. Braddock Zahm. His marriage on May 30th, 1894 was to Mary Scheiber, who died April 3rd., 1960.

Surviving are a daughter Miss Florence Zahm, at home, Two sons, Paul Zahm, Sr., Huntington County, and Harmon Zahm, Bourbon; seven grand-children and 28 great grand-children.

A duaghter Mrs. Bernice Beeler, and two sons, Leo and Earl Zahm are dead. Mr Zahm was the last of his family of 14 children.

He was the oldest member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and an honorary member if the Holy Name Society of the Church and The Knights of Columbus. He was a familiar figure for many years as he distributed his garden produce to stores and homes in the city.

Friends may call after 7 P.M. Saturday March 6th, in the Kroeger Funeral Home, where the recitation of the Rosary will be at 7:30 P.M. Sunday.

Funeral Services will be at 10 A.M. Monday in St. Mary's Church, with the Rev. Raymond Balzer officiating.

Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, on March 18th, 1963
