b. 7 December 1922, Watertown – d. 8 May 2005, Cookeville, Putnam Co., TN, (US Navy WWII), md Idelle (Thompson) Blankenship, b. 23 September 1921, Statesville – d. 2 January 2006, TN, d/o Elias & Angie Thompson. Billie Ray Blankenship, s/o William C. Blankenship & Winnie Golden Huggins.

COOKEVILLE Funeral services for Billie R. Blankenship, 82, of Cookeville will be held at 5 p.m. on Tues., May 10, at First Baptist Church in Cookeville. Burial will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today, Mon., May 9, at Whitson Funeral Home; and from 4 p.m. until time of services on Tuesday, at the church.
Mr. Blankenship died on Sun., May 8, 2005, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
He was born on Dec. 7, 1922, in Watertown to the late William and Winnie Golden Huggins Payne Blankenship.
He was a minister for more than 43 years and a music minister also. He served in numerous churches, including Cookeville and surrounding areas. Mr. Blankenship served during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Cookeville.
His family includes his wife, Idelle Thompson Blankenship of Cookeville; a daughter and soninlaw, Patricia Ann and Steve Hertzfeldt of Cookeville; a son and daughterinlaw, Billy G. and Carole Blankenship of Antioch; a brother and sisterinlaw, Bob and Beverly Blankenship of Murfreesboro; a granddaughter and spouse, Jenny and J.P. Holmes; three great grandchildren, Nathan, Connor and Katie Holmes; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Beard.
