Gayla June Jensen Norton, 71, of Boise, died Monday, November 9, 2009 at her home of natural causes.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 14 in the Castle Drive LDS Chapel. Bishop Wynn Johnson of the Hillside Ward of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dry Creek Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Relyea Funeral Chapel.

Gayla was born on June 18, 1938, in Meridian, Idaho. Her childhood years were spent in the Meridian and Boise communities. She graduated from Boise High School and was married to Ronald Edward Norton on July 21, 1956. They were married for more than 38 years. Their marriage was later solemnized in 1959 in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple. Gayla had been widowed for nearly 15 years.

Gayla earned her BA from Boise State University as a mother of three young children and became a registered nurse. She worked at St. Luke's Hospital for more than 20 years. As a young nurse she worked in ICU, CCU, and 4 South primarily. As an older nurse she headed up the foot clinics and enjoyed this immensely. When she retired she became "Ebay Queen" buying and selling porcelain.

Gayla was a member of the Hillside Ward, LDS Church and served in many positions including those of leadership. She was a positive influence on all those she served.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Jeffrey R. and Corinne R. Norton of Laguna Niguel, Calif,; her two daughters and son-in-law, Kristen and Ward Wolfley of Eagle, ID, and Kimberley Michiels of Helena, MT; 12 grandchildren, Chandler, Holland, Rylie, Colter, William, Katherine, Caroline, Wynter, Davis, Phoebe, Harrison, and Irelyn; sisters DeNice Jensen and Linda Malquist, and her brother Leon Jensen, and extended family. Gayla was preceded in death by her husband Ronald, and her parents Jay Keith and Verla Jensen.

Friends may call at the Relyea Funderal Chapel on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the Castle Drive LDS Chapel.
