She was known for working hard, and for being generous with her baking and her knitting.

In her retirement she was called the "Birthday Lady," for her dedication to calling friends on their birthdays At daughter Susie and Lloyd Russell's 50th wedding anniversary in August, 2004, she received a standing ovation from the crowd, most of whom remembered her for her many years working at Hanscam's, and as a community volunteer.

Survivors include daughters Mary Sue "Susie" Russell of Grants Pass, Diane Reid of Calgary, Alberta; grandchildren Todd, Dennis, Eric and Scott Russell; sisters Pearl Brakel and Kittie Eades. Also surviving are 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
