Charles Kenneth Hehe

Charles Kenneth Hehe, 76, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, at Windsor Manor Health Care. He was a resident of Indianapolis.

He was born Jan. 15, 1924, in Ripley County. His parents were John H. and Ella (McAllister) Hehe. He married Cleo M. (McKee) Hehe on Jan. 26, 1973. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, John M. Hehe of Huntington, Dennis A. Sheldon of Rochester, N.Y., and Ronnie Chitwood of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two stepsons, Charles B. Byers of Bedford and Phillipp S. Byers of Springville; a daughter, Cindy L. Rife of Lewisville; two brothers, Ernest L. Hehe of Sacramento, Calif., and Donald E. Hehe of Greenwood; two sisters, Marie Ritter of Edinburgh and Margaret Blessing of Columbus; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Gerald, Gilbert, Scott, Theodore and Carl Hehe; and a sister, Eva A. Hall.

He graduated from Heltonville High School.

He was employed for 37 years by Detroit Diesel Allison Division of General Motors, retiring as a tool tryout mechanic in 1988.

He was a member of Southside Church of the Nazarene and a former Sunday school teacher and usher and member of the visitation committee. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid mushroom hunter.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

The Rev. Lloyd Tucker will conduct a service at 11:30 a.m. Thurs-day at Southside Church of the Nazarene in Indianapolis. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednes-day at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center and from 10:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Byers Cemetery in Springville.
