She was born in Mineola, NY, 7 Jan 1929, the daughter of Richard Grover Hall of New York and Mildred Cunningham Hall of Greenville, SC. She was affectionately known by friends and loved ones at different periods of her life as Millie, Betty and Liz.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Richard Bowden Jones of the home; daughters Catherine Cunningham and husband Kenny Williams of Reno, NV; Elizabeth Langer of Novato, CA; Julia Semola and husband Salvatore of Detroit, MI, and son Richard Bowden Jones Jr. and wife Mary Davis Jones of Hoschton, GA. And by grandchildren Chad and Jason Jones and Maggie Davis of Hoschton, GA, Sara Langer of Denver, CO, Jenna Langer of Novato, CA, Michelle Sosnowski of Reno, NV, and Shawna White of Hidden Valley, CA. Millie attended Fassifern School for Girls in Hendersonville, NC where she was Class President and May Queen in her graduation year of 1946. She later attended Furman Univ. in Greenville, SC, where she met and married her husband. After returning to Wilmington for a short period she and her husband were recalled in 1956 to active duty with the US Army. Betty subsequently lived in Germany, Hawaii, and on Army installations throughout the US.
She was a consummate mother, grandmother and Army wife, always putting her family first. She was beautiful inside and out and will be sorely missed.
The family wishes to thank the staff and residents of Brightmore, the doctors, nurses and staff of NH RMC, the nurses and staff of Community Hospice and her many friends for their prayers, kindness and help during this difficult time.
Graveside services will be held in Oakdale Cemetery at 3:00 pm Monday, February 8, 2010 by Rev. Jack Ormond.
