Dora Jane was the fourth child of Robert Matthew Kier Jr. & Lydia Jane Stokes, her brother John Matthew Kier was her twin, she married Isaac Sylvester Custer on March 8, 1887 in Avena, Fayette County, Illinois, they were bless with eight children. Jessie Illinois Custer, Sarah Anna Frances Custer, Emma Lenora Custer, Clarence Edward Custer, Rosetta Jane Custer, George Matthew Custer, William Sylvester Custer and Leslie Theodore Custer
