Final rites for R.T. Layton, a life-long resident of Simpson County, were held at the Good Hope Baptist Church, which he had served as deacon since early manhood.

He leaves his wife Mrs. Callie Garrett Layton; six sons, E.T., R.V., Claude, Otha, Estus and Jimmie Layton; two daughters, Mrs. Annie Bell Craft and Mrs. Wilda Craft; a sister, Mrs. Rosetta Birch; and thirteen grandchildren.

Mr. Layton was well-known in Simpson County and vicinity, and a host of friends mourn his passing.

Funeral and burial services of Tommye Layton, 63, held last Sunday at Good Hope Church and Cemetery, Rev. Charlie Ware, Liberty and Rev. Lewis, Lincoln County, officiated. Mr. Layton died early Saturday morning after taking ill only the night before.
