Alice Vivian Theisen, 80, of Blackduck, MN died Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at the North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Blackduck, Minnesota with Rev. Luis Buitron Officiating. A visitation will be held from 6 – 8 PM on Friday, February 29th with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Cease Family Funeral Home of Blackduck, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Blackduck, Minnesota.
Active Pallbearers will be Marvin Theisen, Ryan Theisen, Warren Theisen, Chuck Nelson, Allen Nelson and Todd Peasley.
Honorary Pallbearers will be all other grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Alice was born March 7, 1927 in Hines Township, Minnesota the daughter of Walter and Eleanor (Noel) Grundmeier. She attended Cedar Park Country School in Hines and graduated from Blackduck High School in 1944. Following graduation she worked in the Laundry at the hospital in Marshall Town, Iowa. She worked for The Blackduck American as a type setter, and worked in the kitchen to feed the lumberjacks at the Bulldog Hanson Logging Co. in Cook, Minn. She married Albert V. Theisen December 30, 1946 in Blackduck. She lived in the Blackduck area most of her life.
She took a great interest in genealogy. She cataloged births, deaths, marriages and all Servicemen that were carried in the Blackduck paper and provided copies to the Blackduck Community Library, Beltrami County Historical Society and the American Legion. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Blackduck and was active in the Ladies Aid and the Historical Society.
She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, embroidery, reading, genealogy and many other hobbies. She was an excellent seamstress. Her family meant everything to her and she promoted most family get togethers. She loved having special parties and outings with her grandchildren. She would say her family is her greatest accomplishment.
She is survived by her husband, Albert Theisen of Blackduck; children, Diana Lossing of Blackduck, Bill (Sharon) Theisen of Bovey, Mike (Rose) Theisen of Blackduck, Mary (Louie) Suhadolc of Gilbert, Ann (Steve) Spencer of Bemidji, Betty (Dale) Nelson of Blackduck, Christi (Bob) McNeil of Bremerton, Washington, and Janette (Dale) Peasley of Blackduck; daughter-in-laws, Marla Theisen of International Falls, Carol Theisen of Blackduck, and Linda Pond of Pinewood; 31 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Eleanor Grundmeier; sons, Richard, Andy and Tony Theisen; grandson, Jeff Lossing; great grandson, Clarence Lossing; sisters, Carol January and Louise Mae Grundmeier; and a brother, Marvin Grundmeier.
