Mrs. Pichon was one of 22 people that passed away at the LaFon Nursing Home during the time of Hurricane Katrina. It is believed that lack of disaster planning and not evacuating patients lead to this even greater disaster. The taking of these 14 saints was preventable.

Mrs. Dorothy J. Pichon sunrise, July 11, 1929 died the year of Hurricane Katrina 2005. A native of New Orleans, LA. Wife of the late Robert A. Pichon, Sr. Mother of the late Robert A. Pichon, Jr. Survived by daughters: Dianne Lindsey, Veleria Brazile and Rosalind H. Chavis; and sons: Kevin, Troy and Terrence Pichon. Also survived by 3 sons-in-law; 1 daughter-in-law; 1 sister-in-law; 2 sisters, 1 brother; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Pichon was a volunteer at Little Woods Elementary School for 13 years. She received numerous awards for her outstanding and dedicated service to the teachers, students and parents of Little Woods Elementary. Mrs. Pichon was well known and respected throughout the community she lived and served in for over 40 years.
