LEWIS, Paul C.
Went to be with his Father in Heaven on Feb. 1, 2010, in Lancaster, Calif. He was born Aug. 21, 1924, to Milo Clawson and Carol Allen Lewis in Ogden, Utah. In 1943, he entered the Army Air Corp., during World War II where he served with the 385th Bomb Group as crew chief on the B-17. He was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries sustained when his squadron received enemy fire. At the end of the war, Paul was assigned to numerous top secret military operations, including in-flight tracking of soviet satellite re-entry. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 23 years of honorable service. After his military retirement, he worked for Grumman Aircraft, General Dynamics, then McDonnell Douglas before his final retirement in 1988. Paul loved building model airplanes and engines, riding and racing motorcycles, photography and electronics. He was a pilot and after age 80, he made 5 parachute jumps ~ just because he could. Paul leaves behind his beloved wife of 63 years, Lucile Burton Lewis, his son, Michael Lewis (Linda), daughters, Tawna Mikols (Tom), Cece Kratz (David), and Lindy Lewis, 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, sisters, Vanile Risser and Cheryl Russell, numerous nieces and nephews. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family and his country, and served both with devotion and loyalty. Viewing will be held at 10 a.m., with Services beginning at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, both at Lancaster Ward, Latter-day Saints Church, 1701 W. Lancaster Blvd., Lancaster, Calif. Arrangements entrusted to Joshua Memorial Park & Mortuary, Lancaster.
