LaNona 'Noni' Zillig

LaNona "Noni" Dell Hopkins Zillig, 63, of Nampa, passed away Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, at her home due to a heart attack. Graveside services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30. 1998, at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell. Dr. Ralph Neil will officiate. Services are under the direction of Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa.

Noni was born July 10, 1935, in Tillamook, OR, to W.L. "Bill" and Della Solmon Hopkins. She spent her childhood in Cloverdale where she began schooling in a one-room school. Later she attended junior high in Bay City. OR. The family moved to Nampa in 1950 where she attended and graduated from College High school on the campus of Northwest Nazarene College.

Noni married H.W. "Bud" Porter in 1953 and they bore four children. Later divorced, Noni married Willis Zillig, Noni and Willis were celebrating their 15th year of marriage this year.

She is remembered by her children and husband as a wonderful, loving, warm and thoughtful mother and wife. She would go to any length and do without herself to see that her children were provided for. Being a single mother for many years. her children express their love and thanks to a great Mom.

Noni worked for Grange Mutual Life, now United Heritage, for twenty-five years, until she was forced to take an early medical retirement. She had not been in good health for the past several years. She had been active in the Daughters of the American Revolution, presently serving as Regent for the EE-DAH-HOW Chapter in Nampa. Besides working, Noni enjoyed life to the fullest. She had a great sense of humor, loved her family and people. She enjoyed making crafts, painting, camping, and doing volunteer work for Northwest Nazarene College.

She is survived by her husband, Willis Zillig of Nampa; two sons, Randall Porter and his wife, Margie of Coos Bay, OR, and Norman Porter and his wife, Sheila of Nampa; two daughters, Connie Sharp and her husband, James of Nampa and Cathy Cornelison of Caldwell; two stepdaughters, Tammy Chamberlain and her husband, Harry of Vale, OR, and Bonnie Green and her husband, Allen of Spokane, WA; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; her mother, Della Hopkins of Nampa; a sister, Martha Hopkins of Nampa; two brothers, Leanold and his wife, Lena of California and Glenn Hopkins and his wife, Lois of Washington; and a sister-in-law, Louise Hopkins of Nampa.

She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Hopkins and a brother, Lorenzo Hopkins.

Friends may call at the Alsip Chapel today until 5 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the W.L. and Della Solmon Hopkins Scholarship fund at Northwest Nazarene College. 623 Holly St., Nampa ID 83686.
