Born July 2, 1936, in Manchester, a son of the late Alva and Edna Tomlin Spires, he was a farmer and tree trimmer.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Spires; two sons, Richard Spires and Timothy Spires, and two daughters, Diana Longfellow and Bernice Skaggs, all of Manchester; six sisters, Carla Skeen of Manchester, Peggy Devore of Bentonville, Ruby Sargent of Orrville, Ruth Shumacher of Aberdeen, Wilma McGovney of Stout and Della Wolfe of Dayton.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at East Fork Church near Stout, with Bobby Allen, minister, officiating, and interment in Putney Cemetery near Stout.
