Donald M. Belles, 88, of Bowman Street, East End section of Wilkes-Barre, died Tuesday at the Columbia-St. Petersburg Medical Center, St. Petersburg, Fla. Born Oct. 31, 1909, in Noxen, he was the son of the late Wesley and Lillian Monroe Belles.
He attended local schools and was a member of Holy Saviour Church, Wilkes-Barre.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European theater, and he received the Purple Heart.
He was employed as the manager for Ruggles Lumber Company for 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Hannah M. Noone; a son, Donald J. Belles; granddaughters, Bonnie Hinz and Lori Ann Snarski; a great-granddaughter, Chastity Farber; brothers, Roland and William "Harold" Belles.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Monday from the E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Saviour Church.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
Memorial donations may be made to the Holy Saviour Church, 54 Hillard St., Wilkes-Barre, 18702.
