OTTAWA --- Aethel W. "Jiggs" Wadkins, 82, Ottawa, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, at home.
He was born Feb. 2, 1919, in Quenemo, to Robert S. and Phoebe Ann Burgoon Wadkins. He lived in Quenemo before he moved to Ottawa with his parents in 1927. He attended Ottawa High School. He was a truck driver for Ross Quarry in Ottawa 25 years and worked for the Franklin County Roads and Maintenance Department 29 years. He was a supervisor before he retired in 1984.
He attended Calvary Baptist Church in Ottawa.
He married Eula Mae Crawford on June 30, 1939, in Mound City. She survives. A daughter, Carolyn Currant, preceded him in death.
Other survivors include two sons, Bob Wadkins, Lebanon, Mo., and Darrell Wadkins, Ottawa; a daughter, Shirley Burnett, Ottawa; a sister, Helen Seyler, LeLoup; 15 grandchildren; 22 great- grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Ottawa. Mr. Wadkins will lie in state until time of services at the mortuary, where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
