Edward Francis "Ed" Loftin Jr., 78, of Middle Sound Loop Road, died Wednesday, November 15, 2006, in the Lower Cape Fear Hospice & Life Care Center. Born in Wilmington, NC, on June 22, 1928, he was a son of the late Edward F. Loftin Sr. and Marguerite Bordeaux Loftin. Mr. Loftin was retired after many years from Bell South. He was a US Army Air Corps WWII veteran and was a member of the Bell South Pioneers.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Evelyn Loftin; two daughters, Teresa "Terrie" Holt and husband Paul, Jacquelyn Williams, all of Wilmington; a brother, Don Loftin and wife Jerry of Wilmington; a special aunt, Louise Burress of Wilmington, her sister, Eloise Griffin of Hartsville, SC; two special grandchildren, Becky Holt Brown and husband Adam, Paul Edward "Tater" Holt; two special great-grandchildren, Tori and Collin Holt, all of Wilmington; and his beloved dog, "Rosie".

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2006, in the Chapel of Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service by The Reverend G.A. Griffin. Interment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday evening at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service, Oleander Chapel, and after the funeral service from the home of Becky & Adam Brown.

Active pallbearers will be Ray Bordeaux, Mark Loftin, Bobby Arthur, Adrian Carroll, Steve Nelson and Dennis McFayden.

Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Byrd, Joe Johnson, David Erwin, F.T.I. Members and Friends of "Ed's Shed."
