FLORENCE TOWNSHIP — Paul H. Clark, 62 years of age, and a resident of Florence Township, passed away Friday, September 25, 2009 at New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain following a brief illness.

He was born June 16, 1947 in Harlan County, Kentucky. Paul and his family moved to Oberlin in 1959 and he attended school in the Firelands School system. Florence Township has been his home since 1974.

Paul was employed with the Lorain Plant of the Ford Motor Corp. for twenty years with his final position being that of a scrap burner. He went on to open the Rt. 113 Auto Salvage in 1986 which he operated until 1999. He was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Amherst. A member of the Vermilion Masonic Ely Lodge 424 he achieved the rank of 32nd Degree Mason. His hobbies included watching sports, especially football; watching old Western movies; participating in drag racing; and watching racing in general. His real joy was spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of forty-three years, Linda Sue Clark (nee: Hardwick); his sons Paul William Clark of Collins, Ohio, Michael Ray Clark and his wife Rebecca of Florence Township, and Jeffrey Scott Clark of Florence Township; his mother Hazel Clark (nee: Bishop) of Rogersville, Tennessee; his brothers Mitchel Clark of Sullivan, Ohio and Jubal Clark of Amherst; and his sisters Sharon Jones of Wakeman, Audrey Sapienza of Berlin Heights, and Betty Clark of Rogersville, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his father Clarence Clark; two sisters and one brother.

Friends may call Sunday, September 27, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. from Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church; 9457 Baumhart Rd., Amherst. The Rev. Earl Conner, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Camden Cemetery, Camden Township.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital; Atten: Memorial Department, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
