Hazel Cornia Sims, 84, died Sunday, March 26, 1995 at her home at Morgan, Utah of natural causes.

She was born on January 3, 1911 in Woodruff, Utah to Peter Carlos and Mary Ann Longhurst Cornia. She married Ralph Sims on May 31, 1933 in Coalville, Utah. They and all their children were sealed together in the Logan Temple on December 2, 1969. Ralph died on May 16, 1972.Reared in Woodruff. Hazel attended the University of Utah and Utah State University. She taught school in Woodruff for three years before her marriage. After her marriage, she and her husband moved to Almy, Wyoming, where they ran the Sims Ranch from 1933 until Ralph's death in 1972. She continued to living on the ranch until 1976 when she moved to Morgan, Utah.

Active in the LDS Church, Hazel served as Relief Society president, Young Women's secretary and teacher, ward pianist, ward magazine representative, visiting teacher supervisor, and as a visiting teacher. She was also active in community service. She served as a 4-H leader for 25 years in Almy and was also a member of the Almy Homemakers Club. After moving to Morgan, she was active in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and the Culturettes Club. She enjoyed playing the piano, reading, sewing, crocheting, knitting and gardening. She enjoyed good health and was actively involved in many activities up until the day of her death.

She is survived by one son and two daughters, Jack C. Sims and his wife, Lynda of LaBarge, Wyoming; Shirley Ann Parker and her husband, Bob of Prosser, Washington; Louise Jackson and her husband, Danny of South Jordan, Utah and a son-in-law, Merle Smith, Morgan, Utah; also surviving are a brother, Leo Cornia, Malad, Idaho; a sister, LaRue Bohner, Salt Lake City; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Mariel Berniece Smith; a son, Dee Sims, who was stillborn, two brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 30, 1995 at 1 p.m. at the Almy Ward Chapel, 261 Elm, Evanston, Wyoming. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary in Morgan, Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday at the chapel from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Interment: Evanston City Cemetery.
