Nellie Heffington moved to Los Angeles after the death of her husband in about 1906. Her three children Martha, Mabel, and Emery moved with her. The oldest, Martha, married a Mr. Hughes and stayed in Los Angeles her entire life. There are no records referring to her as "Mattie" in her adult life. The Mattie Heffington attached here to Nellie's record belongs to Mattie Irene Briggs, whose death certificate shows her parents as W.F. Heffington and Minnie Greer. As far as I can tell there is no connection between Nellie Heffington and the Briggs family.
