William Colon Jacobs passed away on Monday afternoon April 27, 2009 at the Wayne Memorial Hospital in Jesup GA following an extended illness.He was 79 years old.He was born in Hortense Ga on July 26, 1929.
He is preceded in death by his parents James Franklin Jacobs & Ruth Matilda Stewart Jacobs.Two sisters Louise Freeman & Ealon Jacobs Manning,Three brothers Perry Jacobs,Murray Jacobs & Joseph Lindsey (Peck) Jacobs.
He is survived by one sister Opal Jacobs Dyals of Hilliard FL, and several nieces and nephews.He was a very great and special uncle.Also a long time friend Josephine Leigh of Jacksonville.
He resided most of his life in Jacksonville Florida where he was a member of the Jacksonville Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 234 from where he retired.He was also a member of 1st Baptist Church of Jacksonville for 32 years where he served as an Usher and Deacon.William also served four years with the Armed Forces of the United States of America.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday at Frye funeral home in Nahunta with the reverend Buddy Allen officiating.Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetary in Waycross.Visitation will be Wednesday night at 6 at Frye Funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Bass, Scott Bass,Joe Allen,Elkin Strickland,Woody Strickland & Robert Wilson.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Jacksonville Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 234,Slick Lanier, and his care givers Phyllis Jacobs May,Wanda Jacobs Smith,Catherine Middleton & Jerri Lynn Thrift.
