Vivian B. McCauley, 81, Mayetta, died Oct. 31, 2005, at her home. She was born April 21, 1924, in Wetmore, the daughter of Jack and Edna Porter Bontrager. She attended school in Wetmore and Holton. Mrs. McCauley was a homemaker and also worked for the State of Kansas. She was a 4-H leader and a member of the Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church. She married J.R. McCauley on Oct. 3, 1942. He died July 6, 2000. Survivors include five daughters, Mary E. Tessendorf and husband Larry, Circleville, Margaret L. Lutjemeier and husband Everett, Washington, Kathryn A. Collins and husband Gerald, Lyons, Karolyn J. Collins and husband Troy, Salina, and Laura J. McCauley, Manhattan; three sons, Charles R. McCauley and wife Anne and James C. McCauley and wife Rowena, all of Mayetta, and Walter J. McCauley, Holton; two sisters, Thelma Newman, Galesburg, Mich., and Evelyn Colhouer, Holton; a brother, Jack Bontrager, Whiting; 23 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. A funeral service was held Nov. 3 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Holton.
