John is listed in the 1920 & 1930 Census in Luling with his parents John and Henrietta Wallace. John's grandfather was living with him in 1920 – his name was Benjamin, born 1839 England.

John (sr.) immigrated from England in 1874 and his wife Henrietta immigrated from Germany in 1894. John C. enlisted as a Private in the Infantry (Nat'l Guard?) in 1940 from Caldwell Co, TX.

2nd Lieutenant Wallace perished when U.S. Army Air Corps B-24E Liberator #42-7053 collided with a 20 million cubic feet natural gas storage tank, at the intersection of West 73rd Street and Central Park Avenue in Chicago, after departing the Municipal Airport (now Midway International Airport). All twelve crew aboard were killed.
