Lawrence was born the oldest son of Ed & Minda Denbrook. In 1935 he traveled west with his aunt and uncle, settling in Bremerton, WA. He apprenticed as a meat cutter. During WWI I he came to Santa Barbara to serve with the U.S. Army at Hoff Hospital. In 1914 he met and married Edith McConnell, who preceded him In death in 1980. They lovingly raised two daughters. Gay and Darcy. For the next forty years Larry worked locally as a meatcutter until his retirement in 1979. Many who knew him from The City Meat Market, Jurgenson's, or the Santa Cruz Market will remember him for his quiet demeanor. and skilled, friendly service. To his family Larry was the kind of man who was always lovingly supportive. He quietly shared the knowledge gained first from his Minnesota farm years, and his later years turning his hand to any occupation that presented itself. He was a willing volunteer any time he saw an opportunity, whether helping a neighbor, family member, or one of the organizations to which he belonged. After his retirement Larry spent time visiting family in Minnesota, Washington, and Oregon. He traveled to the East Coast. Nova Scotia, Alaska, and Hawaii. It was on one of these visits to Washington to see his sister that he met and soon married Wilma Sauve in 1997. They shared homes in both Yakima and Santa Barbara. Their years together though brief brought much joy to them both.

Larry, 86, died unexpectedly following heart surgery. He is survived by his wife, Wilma, his daughters Gay Perney of Paso Robles, and Darcy Sylvester of Santa Barbara. sons-in-law Jerry Perney and William Svlvester, nephew, Malcolm Stephens of Colorado, his grand daughters, Cindy oswell, Valery Brake, Nanette Railsback, Minda Sylvester, and Joanna Perney. and his great grandsons William Austin, and Cameron. He is also survived bv his sisters Lorraine Bailey and Deloris Frigaard, his brother Leonard Denbrook, two aunts, Mabel Hansen and Anna Ordal, and numerous other nephews and nieces. A memorial service will be held at the Elks Lodge #613 on Sunday, March 26th at 1:00 PM. Contributions can be made In Larry's memory to the Disabled American Veterans.
