Gary Allen Clayton 1938 ~ 2010 Loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grand-father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend passed away peacefully on January 31, 2010 surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born October 26, 1938 to Kenneth LeRoy and Myrtle Frankie Allen Clayton. Married Sandra Louise Irvine on October 1, 1958 in the Salt Lake Temple. Gary retired from Utah Power & Light after 41 years. He continued working for the Electrical union and retired this past October. Gary's first love was his family and he loved camping and vacationing, making every trip an adventure to remember. He loved working in his vegetable garden and tending to his beautiful pond. Gary was truly a giver, a peacemaker, and a rock to his family. He is one of a kind and will be missed by his family and friends. Survived by his wife, children, Jim Clayton, G. Daniel Clayton, Wendy (Steven) Marsh, Rick (Lisa) Clayton, Amy (Deven) Ritchie, and Michael (Dawn) Clayton, 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and brother, Richard (Marie) Clayton and sister, Marilyn (Mel) Holley. Preceded in death by his parents. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 5 at 10:30 a.m. at the LDS church, 7645 So. 3200 West. Friends may call on Thursday, February 4 at 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah and one hour prior to services on Friday. Burial at Larkin Sunset Garden. The family would like to thank the doctors at Utah Huntsman Cancer Institute and the nurses at Intermountain Medical Center for their kindness.
