Maurice Edward Hill, 87, died Monday night, February 1, 2010, at Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross, after a brief illness.
He was born in Waycross where he lived most of his life. He was formerly employed as an iron worker with the Iron Workers Local 597 in Jacksonville, FL. He served in the United States Army during World War II, and he was a member of Winona Park United Methodist Church and Woodmen of the World.
He was a son of the late Jesse H. Hill and Irene Cason Hill. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Herrin Hill and a son, Ray Edward Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Dixon Hill, Waycross; a step-son, James Benny Lee (wife Susan), Tifton; a sister, Juanita Anderson, Waycross; three grandchildren, Kelly Lee (wife Missy), Tifton, Matt Lee (wife Candi), Blackshear, and Adam Lee, Valdosta; three great-grandchildren, Jackie Lee, Thomas Lee and Mattie Lee and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, at the funeral home.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, from the Kettle Creek Cemetery.
