Edgar Salyer, 62, a former resident of Coryell County and a clerk in the Port Arthur post office for 34 years previous to his retirement in 1950, died recently in Port Arthur of a heart attack.

Funeral services were held in Nunnelly-Stanley Chapel of the Chimes in Port Arthur. Burial was in Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.

Mr. Salyer had been making his home in Port Arthur with his brother, Jim Salyer, an assistant fire chief. Both Jim Salyer and his wife, the former Miss Ida Mae Cook, once resided in Pearl, as did Edgar Salyer.

Mr. Salyer was born April 18, 1895, in Salyerville, Ky., son of Mr. and Mrs. South Salyer, when he was five years old, he moved to Pearl with his mother, the late Mrs. Laura Salyer. He moved with her to Port Arthur in 1918. Since his retirement from the post office, Mr. Salyer had been active in gardening, his hobby.

He is survived by his brother, Jim Salyer, and a half-brother, Raymond Keeton of Bellport, Long Island, N. Y.
