Arthur (A.B.) Angelo Balli, 55, of Mocanaqua passed away peacefully at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital Wednesday, October 7, 2009, following a two year battle with cancer.

He was born in Nanticoke, a son of the late Angelo and Ruth (David) Balli. Art was raised in Glen Lyon and attended Newport High School, later graduating from Nanticoke Area in 1972.

After graduating he was employed in Berwick by Wise Foods for 35 years. Art enjoyed playing softball for Frace's Bar in Glen Lyon and volunteered his time to coach basketball with the Newport Biddy League. He was an avid sports fan who loved to cheer, but mostly jeered his Dolphins, Phillies, Nittany Lions, and 76ers. An animal lover, through his life he cared for many pets including his present beloved Shit-zu "Rocky."

Arthur was deeply loved by his companion of 26 years, Donna Blazick. He will be sadly missed by her and her children, Barbara Sorber, Cheryl Yustat, Jerry Blazick, and Janet Oborski and their families. Their "Art-Art" will always be fondly remembered by Donna's grandchildren, Nicole ("The Punk"), Mitchell ("The Sorb"), J. T. ("The Boy"), Garret ("The Bear"), Kelsey ("The Kelser"), and Ryan ("The Hoover"). He is also survived by a brother Allan Balli, Nanticoke.

The family would like to extend a heart felt thank you to all family and friends for your generosity and outpouring of love and concern. The family is also extremely grateful to Dr. John Kish and staff, Dr. Jeff D'Andrea, Dr. Pramthesh Desai, the nursing staff at Wilkes-Barre General Hospita, and Erwine Home Health Care for the comfort and compassion they provided.

Friends may call Saturday, October 10, 2009 from 4:00 to 6: 00 p.m. at the Mayo Funeral Home Inc., 77 N. Main St., Shickshinny, with memorial services being held at 6:00 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the SPCA of Luzerne County, Fox Hill Rd., Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
