17 May 1915
Charles W. Evans, a former resident of Glenwood, died last Friday night in a hospital at Rapid City, South Dakota, at which place he has been an invalid for some time. The body will be brought to Glenwood for burial, and the funeral will be held tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon at two o'clock at the Fay Wright home. Mrs. Evans and daughter, Mrs. Grace Harvey, have been living at Davenport but are here to attend the funeral.
Mr. Evans was about 60 years old and his family were among the early settlers here. His mother now lives at Pacific Junction, and he has five sisters, Mrs. Anna Wilson of Tabor, Mrs. Emma McLaughlin and Mrs. Laura Lincoln of Pacific Junction, and Mrs. S. F. Vinton and Mrs. Al Miller of Glenwood.
His last activity in Glenwood was as proprietor with "Wash" O'Neill of a livery where the new armory now stands and as grading contractors when the new Burlington track was built some twelve years ago. They then went to Minnesota and followed similar contracting there, and later he did some ranching in South Dakota. His health has been failing several years, and he has been almost helpless for two years.
