Charlotte A. Steele, age 89, of Valparaiso, passed away Monday, February 1, 1010 at the VNA Horton Hospice Center.
She was born August 22, 1920 in Fort Wayne, IN to Gustav and Sarah (Hinkley) Schwier.
Charlotte attended Central Christian Church and was a manager in the Valparaiso University Food Service Department. She also helped operate the family business, Steele's Amusements.
On February 24, 1940 in Fort Wayne, Charlotte married Raymond L. Steele, who preceded her in death in 1996.
Survivors include two children: Nancy (Ira) Harbin of Galena, IL and R. Lawrence (Donna) Steele of Valparaiso; four grandchildren: Jeffrey (Cheryl) Pugh, Jason (Ann) Pugh, Nathan (Karin) Harbin and Kaitlin Steele; five step-grandchildren: James Harbin, John Harbin, Shannon McPartlin, Alyson (Matt) Toupalik and Meghann (Charles) Kilchrist; 11 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 5, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Moeller Funeral Home in Valparaiso with Pastor Don Thornton officiating.
Burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorials may be made to VNA Hospice of Porter County. moellerfuneralhome.com
