LONGTIME PLAINVIEW RESIDENT SUCCUMBS
PLAINVIEW, Dec 3 - funeral services for Lucius M. Blakemore, 73 years old, pioneer Plains cattleman and farmer, were scheduled to be held here Wednesday. Mr. Blakemore died early Monday night at a Graham hospital, where he was taken for treatment when he suffered a heart attack while visiting in Young County last week.
Rev. L. B. Reavis, pastor of the Plainview First Baptist Church of which Mr. Blakemore was a member for many years, was to officiate. Burial will be in the Plainview cemetery beside the grave of Mrs. L. M. Blakemore who died Oct. 4.
Mr. Blakemore and the family lived for a number of years at Abilene before moving to the Plains 33 years ago. They settled first on a ranch sixteen miles norheast of Lockney. Several years later they moved to a farm at the northwest edge of the [?]
The father of seven sons, six of whom served in the World War, Mr. Blakemore lived to see the family name honored by the Ray Blakemore Post of the American Legion here, named for a son who was killed in action in France.
Survivors are five sons, Tom Blakemore and Hanks Blakemore, both of Burbank, Calif.; Alvin Blakemore, San Bernardino Calif.; Fowler and R. C. Blakemore, both of Plainview.
