— Mitchell McBride, SPC Retired, US Army, died Thursday at Azalea Trace Nursing Home. He was 47 years old and resided at 1471 Brewer Avenue in Columbus.

A resident of Columbus since 1979, Mitchell was born in Yonkers, NY on June 25, 1961, the son of Mrs. Hazel Thomas McBride of Columbus and the late Row McBride. A 1979 graduate of Teaneck High School in Teaneck, NJ, Mitchell did further studies at Columbus State University. He was a US Army Veteran and a member of Sightseeing Road Chapel, Ft. Benning, GA, and its Usher Ministry. Other than his mother, he is survived by three aunts, Jobell Porter of Oakland, CA, Jean Thomas of Yorktown, VA, and Betty Watson of Columbus; one uncle, Louis Thomas (Mary Hudson Thomas) of Columbus; and a host of cousins. Mitchell will be laid to rest at Main Post Cemetery, with full military honors on Tuesday after a 12:00 Noon Homegoing Celebration at Sightseeing Road Chapel, Ft. Benning, GA. Officiating will be Elder Regina Ross, Rev. Earl Ross, and other Ministries and Elders. Visitation will be from 1 - 5 PM Monday at the funeral home. The cortege will depart from the residence Tuesday at 11:30 AM. Arrangements entrusted to the staff of Progressive Funeral Home, Inc.
