Rebecca Susan "Becky" (McBride) Pasley had been married almost 13 years to a Franklin County, Virginia, tobacco sharecropper, Lilburn Oliver Pearl "Pearlie" Pasley (September 10, 1863 -- August 28, 1898), when Pearlie died from Hodgkin's disease. Being left with four young children: Fletcher Lee Pasley, John Harve Pasley, Claudia Mae (Pasley) Burchett and Bertha Florence (Pasley) Agee, Becky had little choice but to bury Pearlie in an unmarked grave in the William Pasley Cemetery, Franklin County, Virginia.

Likewise, Becky had little choice, but to leave her native Franklin County, Virginia, and move with her son Lee and his wife Belle and their children, to Callaway County, Missouri in 1919.

Becky outlived both of her sons and at least one of her daughters--Bertha.

Becky's father Matthew McBride died in 1864, the same year in which she was born.

Family records and Becky's Missouri death certificate show 1864 as the year of her birth. Her tombstone in Liberty Cemetery, Shamrock, Callaway County, Missouri, is obviously in error with 1867 shown as her birth year
