Johan was born in Znin, Province of Pozen, Germany (Zinn, Poland today). Johan, Maria and Wilhelm arrived in New York on March 24, 1891 on board the Saule. The ship sailed from Bremen, Germany to South Hampton, England to New York. The passenger list indicates that he was a butcher. Johan died of a fall from a wagon on his way home from Austin. Johan married 1) Maria schoen and 2) Emma Hebbe Schoen.

5) Herman born October 31, 1875; died February 15, 1966 in Prescott, Arizona; married 1) Ruth Chermanzehn 2) Hedwig Fermazin.
