Fred P. Reifenrath
Fred P. Reifenrath was born January 19, 1877, in Brookey Bottom. His parents were Gerlach and Mary (Schmidt) Reifenrath. The family homesteaded the farm in the early 60's shortly after coming to the United States from Germany. He never married. He started farming for himself near St. James and lived there the rest of his life. He was interested in the Brookey Bottom Drainage District and the Missouri River waterways. His brothers and sisters were John G., Mathilda Klug, Peter Robert, Anna Imoehl, Franz Wilhelm, August G., Frank J., Elizabeth and Clara. He died Arpil 10, 1948 and is buried in the SS. Philip and James Cemetery. The Resurrection statue on the SS. Philip and James Cemetery was donated by Mr. Reifenrath.
