His mother, Mary Lou Jennings, was born 28 Dec 1866 in Bastrop County, Texas and died 19 Jan 1903 in Cisco, Eastland, TX.
After Mary Lou Jennings Awalt died in Jan 1903 and James died in 1909, their younger children were orphaned and by 1910 Miles, Johnnie and Barbara are enumerated at the "widows and orphans" home at Navarro County, Texas.
By 1920 William Miles and Johnnie are back in Eastland County. William Miles' wife, Vera Blanche Butler, died in 1920. In 1930 he was living with his father-in-law, James S. Butler in Eastland County. William Miles later married Dorothy Watson, d/o Roscoe P. and Louella Austin.
