Isaac Andrew Wassom Jr.

Isaac Andrew Wassom, Jr., 88, of Bluff City, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2009, at James H. Quillen V. A. Medical Center.

He was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County and was the son of the late Isaac Andrew Wassom and Ella Reynolds Wassom.

He served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He served as a commissioner for Sullivan County Courts for several years and had retired from Raytheon.
He was a 32nd degree Mason and was a member of the Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, three sisters, and a son-in-law.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth R. Wassom; daughter, Christine McPhetridge, both of Kingsport, Tennessee; son, Gary Wassom and wife Lynn of Bluff City, Tennessee; granddaughter, Lori Parsons and husband Nick, and great granddaughter, Natalie Parsons, all of California; brother, Earl Wassom, of Oklahoma; and a niece, Ella Sue Jones and husband Paul, of Gray, Tennessee.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, December 29, 2009, in the Heritage Chapel of Memories at Glenwood Cemetery.

The funeral service will follow with a eulogy by Mr. John McKamey. Military Honors will be presented by the Bristol VFW Honor Guard.

The committal and entombment will follow.

Pallbearers will be: Paul Jones, Larry Hicks, Timmy Hughes, Tom Milhorn, Jimmy Richards, and Gary White. Honorary pallbearers will be: Don Umburger, Marvin Hyatt, Herbert Riley, and Tom Sluder.
