Mrs. Gertrude B Johns Dalton, wife of G.G. Dalton, who served as a nurse in France in the World war and who also was formerly located in this city, died following an operation at her home, 5128 music street, New Orleans, La., of July 30.
Mrs. Dalton was a daughter of William and Rebecca Johns, pioneer residents of Huntingdon county and was born September 29, 1875. She was a graduate of the West Penn hospital, Pittsburgh, nurses' training school.
For some time she was a resident of Altoona, as a massage practitioner and as head nurse at the Mercy hospital. When the World war opened she entered the served as an arm nurse at Bacon, Georgia, later going overseas to base hospital 58.
She was married August 21, 1919, to G.G. Dalton, who survives her, with three sisters and a brother - Miss Catherine Johns of Pittsburgh; Mrs. Martha Wilson of Shamokin; Mrs. J. M. Kirk of Bellwood; W.S. Johns of Vira.
The body has reached Bellwood and has been removed to the G. E. Fuoss funeral parlors. Friends may view it any time prior to the funeral which will be held from the Bellwood Methodist church at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Interment will be made in Logan Valley cemetery.
