Sarah Elizabeth Young Beck, 71, of Bristol, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2010 at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was born September 23, 1938 in Washington County, Virginia, to the late Fred Edward and Sarah Elizabeth "Bess" Myers Young and the widow of Jack Raymond Beck.
She was a graduate of Tennessee High School, retired from Bristol Builders-Hassinger Corporation, a dedicated long-term member and organist of Anderson Street United Methodist Church and was active in the United Methodist Women and Meals on Wheels program.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth "Betsy" Beck Mallin; son, Gary Steven Beck and wife Susan Long Beck; sister, Myra Anne Kistner and her husband Douglas; grandchildren, Steven B. Beck, Elizabeth "Nicole" Roark, and Christopher "CJ" Mallin; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Frank and Cathy Mitchell, Melda Headrick, Jo Ann Hall, and Betty Jo Spraker.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Sunday evening, January 10, 2010, at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, January 11, 2010, at Anderson Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Fleenor officiating.
The committal service and interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Beck and her family are in the care of Oakley‑Cook Funeral Home.
