A lifelong resident of Elyria, died at the Elyria United Methodist Village. Served in the U.S. Army as a forward observer during World War II. He was employed by the former Bendix Westinghouse in Elyria as a security supervisor for 30 years before retiring in 1982. He was a member of the VFW Post 1079, American Legion Post 12, where he was active with the men's fellowship and was also a 32nd degree Mason with the Frank S. Harmon Masonic Lodge, all in Elyria. He enjoyed fishing and sports and was active with Little League West. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Gutowski of Akron; sons John of Cincinnati and William of LaGrange; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Theodora "Teddy", in 1999.
