Margaret Ann Gooding Billinglsey Covington

Maggie was the daughter of Rufus Gooding and Elizabeth McCoy both born in Kentucky.

George Christopher Billingsley and Margaret(Maggie) Ann Gooding were married October 28, 1869, in Kendall, Kansas.

George and Maggie had four children: James Robert, Sarah Elizabeth, Charlotte Hester, and Margaret Jennie.

Family Legend:

Maggie was the mail order bride of Mr. Washington Tshopp (second husband). She went to Oklahoma to marry him though they had never met. The newlyweds lived for a while in her home near Bolivar, MO. Washington died in a farm accident in Oklahoma. Maggie returned to the Bolivar area and married David Covington and they lived in his home.

Maggie once remarked to a neighbor when her three marriages were mentioned, "GOD willing, I'll marry again!"

She was described as a "fireball" and a cute little plump lady in her older years.
