He was born May 27, 1910, in Valencia, the son of Peter and Pauline Williams Fannin. He lived for most his life in Topeka. He served in the Army in the European theater for three years during World War II under the command of Gen. George Patton Jr.
Mr. Fannin was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He married Thelma Lucille Binney in 1948 in Lawrence. She died April 5, 1986. Mr. Fannin also was preceded in death by two grandsons, Robert Fannin, in 1987, and Brian Fannin, in 1969.
Survivors include a son, Dwayne Arthur Fannin, Running Springs, Calif.; a daughter, Betty Richmond, Topeka; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Parker-Price Mortuary Chapel. Burial, with military honors conducted by a Fort Riley Funeral Detail, will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Fannin will lie in state after 4 p.m. today at the mortuary, where visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m.
