John was the former co-owner of the Bluebird and Colonial Restaurant. Lived most of his life in Elyria. He was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Lorain, and the Odd Fellows.
Survivors are a son, Robert J. Valassis, of Elyria; two daughters, both of Elyria, Mrs. Dorothy Cook and Mrs. Theodora Krugman; two brothers, Spero Valassis, of Elyria and George Valassis, of Millburn, N.J.; three sisters, all in Greece; six grandchildren.
