Bruning Banner dated 4-2-1942:

Engel Wilhelmina Hinkle, daughter of Herman Bruning and Margaret, was born February 9, 1878, at Milford, Nebraska and soon thereafter was baptized in the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Seward, Neb.

Eighteen months thereafter she and her parents came to Bruning where, excepting eight years - 1912 to 1920- spent in Canada and three years in California, she lived all her life.

She graduated from the Bruning schools and received the necessary instructions in the Christian religion in the Trinity Lutheran Church at Bruning and was confirmed here in 1893.

On August 30, 1905, she entered into holy wedlock with Frederick Hinkle. The marriage was solemnized here. Their union was blessed with one son, Herman Adolph.

Since last year the deceased had been poorly in health. Last week her ailment - cardiac trouble - became quite pronounced, forcing her to observe complete rest. It pleased the Lord to call her hence on March 23, 1942, at the age of 64 years, 1 month and 14 days.

Her departure from this earth is keenly felt by her husband, Frederick Hinkle; her son, Herman of Phoenix, Arizona; her brothers, John H. Bruning of Bruning and Fred W. Bruning of Botha, Alberta, Canada; four grandchildren and many distant relatives.

Funeral services were held at the home and at Trinity Lutheran Church, with interment at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
