Funeral Services For Mrs. Emma L. Akes Held Saturday Morning Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock at the Methodistchurch for mrs. Emma I. Akes, Reverend C. W. Hardon, pastor, delivering the sermon, the music was furnished by Miss Marilyn Lowery and Mrs. Lois Condy. Mrs. Edna McCormick, accompanist. Emma Iona Akes was born August 31, 1869 in Holt County, Mo. She died December 3, 1945, at the age of 77 years, 3 months and 2 days. She was united in marriage to Absolom Akes at Albany, Mo., on April 30, 1889. November 30, 1910, they came to Colordo and homesteaded in Yuma County, and later came to Sedgwick County where they resided on a farm south of Sedgwick, from which place they later retired. Her husband preceded her in death about five months ago. Surviving her are the following children: Mrs. Ida Beagle, Richmond, Calif., E A Akes, Sedgwick, Colo., Mrs. Clemence Wages, Chappell Nebr., Charles Akes and Kenneth Akes of Golden, Colo., and Carl Akes of Denver: twenty-three grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; one brother, Fred Clevenger of Canon City, Colo. Mrs. Akes was identified with the church life of Sedgwick before her health failed her. A few years ago they moved to Loveland but had to return here on account of the altitude. Buriel was in the Sedgwick cemetery beside her husband. Austin Funeral Home of Julesburg was in charge of arrangements.
