SEARCH ENDS AFTER 19 DAYS, 3-YEAR-OLD'S BODY DISCOVERED

American Fork - The body of three-year-old Lawrence Farnworth was pulled from the American Fork River shortly after 9 o'clock Saturday morning, ending the frustrated search which began after the Memorial Day mishap.
The boy was lodged under a tree root approximately a quarter of a mile from the Little Mill Campground where the little boy disappeared on Memorial Day.
Dan Balls, 1145 E. Turquoise Road, Sandy, discovered the boy under what he described as a "false ledge".
The water was down to about half its regular flow, but was still swift-running and dangerous.
The child was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sonny Cal Farnworth of Kearns.
At least 300 volunteers were on hand when the gate at Tibble Fork Reservoir was closed a little after 8 a.m. Many of the searchers were from the Sandy-Riverton Kearns and Salt Lake area as well as Utah County residents.
The Sandy City Fire Department, two pickup truckloads of men from the U.S. Forest Service and Utah County Sheriffs Jeep Patrol were joined by several other jeep patrols in an all-out effort to locate the boy.
Four deputies, six trustees from the jail, and a few fishermen and campers were among those helping.
Sheriff Mack Holley of Utah County co-ordinated the search. He expressed thanks for the many volunteers who donated time and equipment. The Utah County Sheriff's Jeep Patrol had made sweeps of the river several times, utilizing men in wet suits.
The search was mostly concentrated from the Little Mill Campground Area to Hanging Rock.
Lawrence was born Feb. 11, 1971 in Murray to Sonny Cal and Ruth Delores Mace Farnworth.
Survivors include his parents and two brothers, Wayne and Patrick Farnworth, all of Kearns; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clem Mace, West Jordan, and great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Noel Ferre, Provo.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. in West Jordan First Ward Chapel, 7950 South 1700 West. Friends may call at the Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday at the chapel prior to services. Burial will be in Redwood Memorial Estates.
