SALINAS - Paulina Anne Schauman, 86, passed away at home on May 20, 2009 after a period of declining health. She was born in Santa Maria, California on February 17, 1923, to John D. and Rosa C. Nunes. The family relocated to Salinas shortly thereafter.
A graduate of Salinas High School in 1940, she was employed by the State of California until her retirement in 1983. She was married to Robert J. Schauman in February, 1946 and was widowed in 1974.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, brothers, John, William, Manuel, Ben, Henry, Edward Nunes; sisters, Rose Nunes, Mary Cheadle, Isabel Miracle.
She is survived by her daughter, Adele (Prescott) Skinner of Arroyo Seco; grandson, Christopher Ronk of Seattle, WA; brother, Leo (Joanne) Nunes of Antioch, Illinois; many nieces and nephews, and caregiver and friend, Malia.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 25, 2009 from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas, CA 93901.
Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 1:00pm in the Sacred Heart Church, 22 Stone St., Salinas, CA 93901. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott St., Salinas, CA 93901.
