OBITUARY

SARAH JANE JOBE
was born January 8, 1837, and died May 15, 1915.
In early life she was a devoted daughter and sister.
In 1860 she was united in marriage to Benjamin F. Allen, to which union was born three sons, David T. Allen, John W. Allen and Jonathan S. Allen, all of Newcastle. She also leaves three brothers, David Jobe of North Carolina, Zack Jobe of Georgia and Mike Jobe of Anderson, Ind. Besides these she leaves five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren to mourn her loss.
She gave her heart to the Lord at twenty years of age and united with the Methodist Episcopal church. She later felt a fellowship with the Friends and joined with them, with which society she continued until her Master called her home. She was a devoted and loving mother and an affectionate wife, with her husband, bringing up their sons in the fear of the Lord and teaching them early the danger of the use of the great destroyer drink.
She had been in declining health for the past few years but those years have been as the setting of the sun on a glorious day.
During her last days she constantly avowed her faith in the Master, and admonished her sons and loved ones to meet her in the kingdom of the eternal Christ.
Her testimony has been that of a child of God, under which testimony we are made to exclaim, "Let me too, die the death of the righteous and let my last end be as his."
