Mrs. Mary J. Brown, widow of I E. Brown formerly of Decatur died in Urbana at 4:30 oclock Tuesday morning. She had lived in Oak Park until a few years ago when she moved to Urbana. Her death was caused by a complication of diseases.
She was born in Greenfield, Wis. on Jan. 22, 1853. She was a member of the Congregational church in Oak Park.She leaves two daughters,Alice Brown, New York city and Florence Brown Hudson of Urbana. She also leaves two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Martha J. Smith, Milwaukee, Mrs. Anna J. Davis, Oak Park and Franklin Johnson Baraboo, Wis.
Mrs. Browns late husband was principal of Decatur high school many years ago and was state Y. M. C. A. secretary. Mrs. Brown taught in the old High school, later the Central Junior high school just preceding its razing and was the oldest guest present. While here she was a guest of her niece, Mrs. R. C. Augustine, 1336 N. Water street. Mrs. Augustine and her three children left Monday for Yellowstone and will not return for the funeral at 2 oclock Friday in Dawson & Wikoffs chapel. Burial will be in Greenwood.
Mrs. Brown and her sisters, made their home together in Oak Park in recent years. Relatives are endeavoring to get in touch with Miss Alice Brown in the East, but she could not be located Tuesday. She is in Y.. W. C. A. work.
